Victor Osimhen has been tipped to rival Manchester City star Erling Haaland if he was to sign for Chelsea this summer.

The Blues are continuing to be heavily linked with a move for the Napoli striker. Osimhen has scored 76 goals in 133 appearances for the Serie A club since his move from Lille in 2020.

There has barely been a summer transfer window go by over the last four years that Osimhen has not been linked with a move away from Napoli.

This window has seen Chelsea the club that are seemingly the most likely to sign the Nigeria international if he was to leave Napoli.

Reports in recent weeks have speculated that Napoli would only consider letting Osimhen leave the club if an offer in excess of £100million.

Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with a move for Osimhen as they search for a replacement for Kylian Mbappe following his move to Real Madrid.

Keith Wyness, a former chief executive of Everton and Aston Villa, has explained why he would be thrilled to see Osimhen in the Premier League with Chelsea. Wyness explains why he believes Osimhen will challenge Haaland for the Golden Boot award next season, with the Man City star winning the award in each of the previous two campaigns.

“I’m hoping he [Osimhen] will come and kick off a bit of a race with Haaland for the Golden Boot," Wyness told Football Insider.

“That would be fantastic for the Premier League and superb for Chelsea. Osimhen would have to aim for 20 goals, and that would put Chelsea back into the reckoning for the top four."
