Why Man City are about to hold ‘emergency talks’ as Arsenal plan transfer move

Arsenal are now preparing a mouth-watering offer to sign a striker who could transform Mikel Arteta’s starting eleven next season.

Right now, Arteta has Kai Havertz, Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah at his disposal at Arsenal, in that order.

Havertz looks set to begin the new campaign as Arsenal’s number one striker, playing in a false nine role he made his own towards the end of last season.

Of course, Jesus returned in great shape for Arsenal pre-season, stiffening the competition for Havertz during the season to come.

The Brazilian is no longer linked with an exit and seems determined to prove that he’s still among the best strikers in the world.

But in Nketiah’s case, it seems as if the Englishman will leave north London this summer.

However, recent reports suggest that Nketiah is still far from sealing an Arsenal exit, as Marseille continue to fall short of the Gunners’ asking price.

That being said, perhaps Nketiah’s departure could be crucial in fueling Arsenal’s interest in Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez.

Arsenal willing to pay Man City’s asking price for Julian Alvarez but there’s a problem

Football Transfers have just shared an update detailing that Arsenal are willing to pay £70m to sign Alvarez from their title-rivals this summer.

TBR Football previously shared that Alvarez was becoming unsettled at Man City, and Arsenal are now looking to profit from the situation.

Unfortunately for Arsenal supporters, the aforementioned report expects that any deal to take Alvarez to the Emirates would be extremely difficult.

Alvarez does want to leave the Etihad but City would want to avoid selling to a Premier League rival, even if Arsenal are willing to pay their asking price.

The report details that City are now planning ‘emergency talks’ with Alvarez’s agents as they look to remedy the Argentina international’s short-term future.

City want to keep Alvarez motivated until at least January, by when they hope to have identified a replacement for the 24-year-old.

Of course, after seeing Arsenal profit from Chelsea’s failure to convince Havertz long-term, fans of the club would surely be delighted by the prospect of Alvarez joining.

Some might be disappointed to see Arsenal sign another City player, but Alvarez would definitely not be leaving because of any failures on the pitch.

In other news, William Saliba has been reacting to transfer news about Nicolas Pepe over the weekend.
