Sterling great, Gusto mistake, James poor - Chelsea second-half player ratings vs Man City

Bobby Vincent shares his second-half player ratings from the Ohio Stadium as Chelsea were beaten by Manchester City after some costly early mistakes in Columbus

Chelsea have lost for the second time in their pre-season campaign as Manchester City beat the Blues 4-2 at the Ohio Stadium in Columbus.

A poor opening few minutes from Chelsea saw them caught out twice when trying to play out from the back. Erling Haaland scored a quick-fire double to hand the Premier League champions a two-goal advantage very early on in front of almost 70,000 supporters.

That is how the score stayed until the break, before Oscar Bobb and Haaland added another quick couple of goals early in the second half, in what was Chelsea's penultimate match of their pre-season tour of the United States. Raheem Sterling got one back and then Noni Madueke halved the deficit for the game to end 4-2. Below, Bobby Vincent rates the Blues players' - those that played in the second-half - performances out of 10.

Robert Sanchez - He was fine. Not really at fault for any of the goals. 6.

Reece James - Not his best game at all. His defending was really off. 5.

Tosin Adarabioyo - Looked really good in the first three games but he found it incredibly tough today. 4.5.

Levi Colwill - Nowhere near his best. Found it very difficult. 5.

Malo Gusto - Gave it away for City's fourth goal. Poor mistake. Too lacklustre. 4.5.

Romeo Lavia - Struggled in the first-half but improved for the second period. Great assist for Madueke. 7.

Enzo Fernandez - Not as influential as in the first-half. Subbed off on 60. 5.5.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall - Moved back into the midfield in the second-half. Looked better and was able to get on the ball more. 6.

Noni Madueke - Bright start after coming on. Produces a cracker of an assist for Raheem Sterling not too long after Man City's fourth. Then he takes his goal really well late on. 8.

Raheem Sterling - A fabulous finish on his left foot. Deserves that goal after an impressive pre-season. 8.

Christopher Nkunku - Always a goal threat. The first game this pre-season where he has failed to find the back of the net. 6.

Substitutes

Marc Guiu - Immediate chance for the Spaniard. Should do better. 5.5.

Benoit Badiashile - Did fine. 6.

Wesley Fofana - N/A.

Lesley Ugochukwu - N/A.
