One Arsenal star has made the headlines during the international break for reasons away from the pitch.
Mikel Arteta will be eagerly waiting for his players back at Colney, as several Arsenal first-teamers embark on international duty.
The September international break caused quite the stir at the Emirates, seeing Riccardo Calafiori withdraw due to injury and Martin Odegaard suffer a blow to his ankle.
Unfortunately, the October break has also handed Arteta an injury scare, as Bukayo Saka was substituted for England during the Three Lions’ defeat to Greece.
Concern over Saka’s fitness isn’t the only subject that has made the headlines during the break in play, with another player generating attention.
While Arsenal are very much on an upwards trajectory under Arteta, it’s not been a time to relish for every player in the squad.
Kieran Tierney has become quite the outsider in North London, losing his place in the squad due to injury concerns and Arsenal’s change in style.
The 2019 signing spent the 2023/24 campaign on loan at Real Sociedad, with his future taking a turn in the summer as he surprisingly remained on the Gunners’ books.
Despite being out of action due to injury, speculation regarding Tierney’s next move has risen during the international break, as the defender was spotted at a charity event with his former club.

The Scotland international was pictured in conversation with Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers after making a surprise appearance at a Celtic FC Foundation event in London.
A picture of the manager and player was posted on Instagram, causing Celtic fans to flood the comments with calls for Tierney to make a return to Celtic Park in the future.
The Hoops are very close to the Arsenal fullback’s heart, with his appearance at the charity event only reinforcing how strongly he feels about his former club.
Tierney’s future remains very much up in the air, with it expected that the 27-year-old will cut ties with Arsenal soon.
The defender was named in Arsenal’s 25-man Premier League squad for the 2024/25 campaign, as well as surprisingly being included in the Champions League squad also.
That being said, it remains incredibly unlikely that the Scotsman will feature for the Gunners in the coming months, with Arteta being well stocked in the fullback department.
It’s a shame for Tierney’s career at the Emirates to have fizzled out the way it has, as the defender has always upheld great professionalism, regardless of the uncertainty of his future.
Links to Celtic resurfaced as the left-back appeared at the recent charity event, with fans of the club making it clear that they want to see the academy graduate return one day.
