Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli has struggled to hit his best form recently, but he has nevertheless enjoyed some incredible moments over the years.
Although Martinelli did not enjoy the best campaign last season, he did prove to be crucial in big games, with decisive performances against Manchester City and Liverpool.
At his best, Martinelli is an incredibly dangerous winger capable of terrorising any defender, and his speed makes him difficult to contain.
The Arsenal attacker has come up against some top-quality defenders, and he has now revealed who he considers to be his toughest opponents.
Speaking on the Men In Blazers Podcast, Martinelli was asked who his toughest opponents were, and he named Man City right-back Kyle Walker, and Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate.
“It has to be Walker and Konate from Liverpool,” he stated.
“They’re both tough to beat.
“It’s instinct. I just see how he is, how his body is, and try to do what I do,” Martinelli added when asked how to beat Konate.
Martinelli could not find consistent form last season, but he did perform well in the biggest games in the title race.
The Brazilian came off the bench to net the winner against Man City in October 2023, before he played an important part against Liverpool in February, seizing upon a mistake from Virgil van Dijk and Alisson to finish in a 3-1 win.
Konate was sent off in the win over Liverpool at the Emirates, whilst Martinelli’s speed has caused Walker issues before, despite the England defender possessing great pace himself.
It is clear that Martinelli is capable of performing at the highest level, and fans will now hope that he can return to his best form in order to help spark Arsenal’s season back into life.
