“He Reminds Me Of Drogba”: William Gallas Says Arsenal Should Sign £68M-Rated Striker

Former Arsenal defender William Gallas has said that he thinks Arsenal should sign Victor Osimhen in the January transfer window.

The Gunners currently have Kai Havertz as their first-choice striker. He scored what he thought was Arsenal’s first goal in their 1-1 draw with Chelsea last weekend, but it was ruled out for being offside.

Victor Osimhen is currently on loan at Galatasaray in Turkey from Napoli after he wasn’t able to seek a transfer away during the summer window.

However, both Chelsea and Arsenal have expressed interest in the Nigerian striker who so far this season has scored six goals in six league matches for Galatasaray.

William Gallas believes that if the Gunners were to sign him in January, he could boost their chances of beating Manchester City and Liverpool to the Premier League title.

He told Prime Casino: “If I could sign one player for Arsenal in January, it would be a world-class striker. I wanted to speak about Osimhen because I know he’s at Galatasaray, and I still don’t understand why he’s there.

“That’s the type of profile Arsenal need. They need a player with that pedigree. With Victor, maybe he won’t score 20 goals in the season, but he will scare defenders, he will give them a hard time, and that will give the opportunity for players around him to score goals. That’s why he reminds me a little bit of Drogba.

“If you remember when Drogba was at Chelsea, he gave the defenders a hard time. Arsenal doesn’t have that player at the moment. When you look at Gabriel Jesus, he’s not really fit, he doesn’t play. Looks like he’s not happy. Sterling doesn’t play. Havertz, up and down, up and down. You need more consistency.”

Arsenal receive Victor Osimhen transfer boost

The attacker had a £103m release clause during the summer which may have been one of the key reasons why the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal weren’t able to get a deal done.

The Blues were seemingly the closest to signing Osimhen as they were deep in talks over bringing him to Stamford Bridge, but nothing ended up materialising for Enzo Maresca’s side.

However, Osimhen’s release clause decreases to £68m in the January transfer window meaning that a top Premier League side could swoop in for him at a cut-price to how he was valued in the summer transfer window.
