Arsenal have welcomed back the last of their players who were on an extended holiday break following the European Championships. Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka and Aaron Ramsdale joined William Saliba and David Raya, who also came back to the Sobha Realty Training Centre over the weekend ahead of this week’s friendlies.

The Gunners will host both Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon and make their final preparations ahead of the new season. Arsenal released videos of the quintet returning but also images of the latest training regimes were also published.

While it was great to see the players reunite, there were some intriguing absences from the clips which might cause some concern for fans. football.london takes a look through the footage and images to find out what might be happening.

The highlight of the summer so far for Arsenal has been the £42million addition of Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna. The Italian international will add much-needed quality to the left flank and there is a growing anticipation to see him play.

However, Calafiori was absent from all of the images and videos that were released over the weekend. There was no indication that Calafiori was injured and Arteta did address his presence with the team after the defeat to Liverpool.

"We had to manage him," he said. "He had a very busy 48 hours before he took his flight and joined us here, and then it was the jetlag, it's a lot of things.

"He hasn't trained with the team yet and we want to build him up slowly to get to know him first. We'll have plenty of time to see him."

Calafiori, however, was not the only absent member of the squad as Timber was also not spotted. The Dutch international missed the majority of last season with a serious knee injury and there has been plenty of hype surrounding the defender and his impact for the side for this season.

However, he too missed the game against Liverpool and football.london were told that the reason behind the absence was due to rest. Having featured regularly on the tour, managing his minutes was important.

However, his lack of exposure in the weekend's images and videos has naturally raised suspicions and worries. Arsenal's game against Leverkusen on Wednesday should provide the clarity needed for both player’s situations.
