Arsenal appear to be interested in signing one striker who Chelsea have already looked at this summer.
A new centre-forward has been at the top of Chelsea‘s list, but the club have failed to land one so far.
They have, of course, managed to bring in Marc Guiu from Barcelona. But the Spaniard is still only 18, so it would not be a shock to see him leave on loan.
Guiu says he’s ready for the Premier League, but the decision to play in it this season is not up to him.
If the former Barcelona player does go out on loan, then, Chelsea may make even more of an effort to sign another No.9.
One striker who Chelsea could sign before the transfer window closes is Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez.
However, the Blues will have to get a move on if they want to bring him to Stamford Bridge.
According to HITC, Chelsea have already made an enquiry for Alvarez this summer, but their London rivals Arsenal have now opened up discussions with his agent to sign him. The same outlet claims that it would take at least £70m for City to consider a sale.
Atletico Madrid are also keen on the 24-year-old and are the ones who look to be at the front of the queue for his signature. The Athletic recently reported that Atletico are in talks with City about a deal.
If Chelsea fail to land Alvarez, there are other options in the Premier League that they could turn to.
Brentford’s Ivan Toney, for example, has entered the final year of his contract. The 28-year-old should be available as a result.
Bournemouth’s Dominic Solanke also has a release clause in his current deal, though owner Bill Foley expects Solanke to stay. Still, because of that release clause, if Chelsea really want their former player, then it should not be too difficult to bring him back to the club.
