Ramon Sosa hasn’t quite nailed down a starting spot at Nottingham Forest, and it was the same story for Paraguay against Ecuador.
Nottingham Forest signed Ramon Sosa from Talleres for £11 million in the summer transfer window.
The Paraguayan already grabbed his first goal for the Reds against Brighton in the Premier League, but has only enjoyed 56 minutes on the field in his three top-flight appearances.
His first start came in the Carabao Cup against Newcastle, where he was replaced after 69 minutes.
He jetted off to South American for the international break and has already played in his first game for Paraguay, which came against Ecuador this morning.
Nuno Espirito Santo is yet to see the best of Sosa, but the early signs are promising. He’s 25 years of age, so he still has his peak years ahead of him.
He was substituted on in the 66th minute for Julio Enciso during Paraguay vs Ecuador, but wasn’t able to have much of an impact on the game.
Paraguayan media outlet ABC, gave him a rating of 5/10 for his performance against Ecuador.
He had 10 touches during his display, lost possession two times, completed all seven passes, lost all three of his duels, failed his only dribble, and had a shot blocked.
Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi have been preferred at times this season, but the likes of Jota Silva and Ramon Sosa have looked bright and are applying pressure to the pair.
Interestingly, Nuno Espirito Santo has stated that he thought Sosa would add something different to his side after joining in the summer.
It’s quite the adjustment going from the Paraguayan league to the Premier League, so he was never going to be an immediate starter.
If he continues to improve and listens to Nuno’s advice he will hopefully follow a similar improvement pattern to Murillo.
