Jude Bellingham says he swore at Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti after the Italian made a cheeky remark about his younger brother Jobe.
Jude, who has blossomed into one of the world's finest midfielders in recent years, had an outstanding debut campaign at the Bernabeu, scoring an impressive 23 goals in all competitions and contributing to the club's historic La Liga and Champions League double victory - but that didn't stop him checking in on Jobe's progress.
While preparing for a game against Almeria in August last season, Jude was watching Jobe in action on his laptop. His sibling scored twice as Sunderland clinched a 2-1 victory over Rotherham, and to Bellingham's surprise, Ancelotti had been watching too.
Recalling the incident during the first episode of 'Out Of The Floodlights', a YouTube series documenting his debut season at the Bernabeu, Bellingham said: "I'm getting ready for the [Almeria] game and watching Jobe play... he scored twice and I'm shaking.
"Then I'll never forget, as we're coming out Ancelotti goes to me, 'F***ing hell we've bought the wrong [Bellingham]!' And I'm like, 'You're joking,' and he says, 'No seriously, I'm going to bring him in'.
"I said, 'Well where are you going to play him? ' and he says, 'In your position'. I was like, 'F*** that!' And then finally he kind of gave me a little smirk and my heart just [stopped racing]. No pressure for the game then."
Ancelotti's light-hearted prod seemed to do the trick as Bellingham not only scored a brace against Almeria, but also netted late winners in Madrid's next two matches. His impressive early form quickly justified the £87million (potentially rising to £112m) fee that the La Liga club had paid to bring him to Madrid.
Back in England, Jobe wasn't quite making the sort of international headlines his brother was, but his start at the Stadium of Light was certainly a positive one. Following his double against Rotherham - which were the first senior goals of his career - he scored the opening goal against former club Birmingham in November.
The 18-year-old, who wears 'Jobe' on the back of his Sunderland shirt in an attempt, according to former Black Cats boss Tony Mowbray, "to create his own identity", ended the campaign with seven goals in all competitions.
His efforts helped the club beat the drop by six points, and now, under new manager Regis Le Bris, they're absolutely flying after picking up four wins from their opening four Championship matches.
