Kyle Walker has reportedly held a leaving party as he nears a transfer to Serie A in a bid to rescue his marriage to Annie Kilner.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Per the Daily Mail, Walker has held a leaving party with friends as he nears a potential move to Serie A. Both AC Milan and Inter are interested in signing the right-back, who wants to remain in contention for England selection, and potentially win over 100 caps. The 34-year-old has 93 caps at present, and the two Serie A giants are keen to sign him on an initial six-month loan that could become a permanent deal on a two-year contract. Over the weekend, manager Pep Guardiola revealed that the star had asked to leave.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The report claims Walker is also desperate to save his marriage to Annie Kilner, and as such is keen to stay in Europe instead of entertaining offers from Saudi Arabia. Kilner is reported to be second-guessing her decision to divorce the City ace, who secretly had a second child with Lauryn Goodman, his ex. Walker spent Christmas with Kilner, to the disgust of Goodman, and now appears keen to leave England altogether.
DID YOU KNOW?
Walker's role at City has reduced this season. While he still does occasionally captain the club, he has made just nine starts this term, coming off the bench six times. His contract expires in 2026 but a premature end is likely for his Etihad stay.
WHAT NEXT?
City play Brentford in midweek but it remains to be seen if Walker will be involved. Guardiola's side are currently sixth in the Premier League.
