Bo Nix and Broncos improve to 5-2 with 30-16 win over Cardinals

The Denver Broncos (5-2) and quarterback Bo Nix got back on track in a 30-16 win over the Arizona Cardinals (2-5) in Week 7 of the 2026 NFL season on Sunday afternoon. Nix finished the day with 296 yards from scrimmage, his new high this season.

Denver drove down to the one-yard line on the game's opening drive before an Adam Trautman offensive pass interference penalty backed the offense up and forced them to settle for a Wil Lutz field goal to take a 3-0 lead. Lutz later added another field goal late in the first quarter to make it 6-0.

After a questionable Riley Moss pass interference penalty aided Arizona's next drive, the Cardinals added a field goal of their own to make it 6-3. Later in the second quarter, Arizona converted a second field goal to tie the game at 6-6.

On Denver's ensuing drive, quarterback Bo Nix rushed for a 62-yard touchdown to take a 13-6 lead, which ended up being the score at halftime.

In the third quarter, Broncos fullback Adam Prentice blocked a Cardinals punt:

Three plays later, Broncos running back RJ Harvey took a screen pass 52 yards for a touchdown to make it 20-6.

Arizona's next drive was aided by a Brandon Jones pass interference penalty that spotted the ball at Denver's five-yard line. Jacoby Brissett then threw a touchdown pass to Trey McBride to make it 20-13.

The Broncos' ensuing possession went 76 yards on six plays and ended with a one-yard J.K. Dobbins touchdown run to extend the lead to 27-13 on the final play of the third quarter.

Later in the fourth, Denver's defense forced a turnover on downs to give the ball back to the Broncos' offense. Following that defensive stop, Lutz added his third field goal of the game to extend the lead to 30-13 midway through the fourth quarter. Arizona later converted another field goal to make it 30-16. That ended up being the final score after the Broncos' defense forced another turnover on downs late in the fourth.

On the injury front, Broncos defensive lineman Malcolm Roach was evaluated for a possible concussion and cleared to return in the fourth quarter. Denver wide receiver Jaylen Waddle also went down after recovering his own fumble on an end-around in the fourth. Waddle was able to walk off the field and into the locker room after suffering a chest injury.

Later in the fourth, defensive lineman Zach Allen went down favoring his right hamstring. Allen was eventually able to walk off the field and went into the team's blue medical tent. Allen ended the game standing on the sideline without his helmet.

Up next for Denver is a home game against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8. Denver lost to Kansas City 31-10 on the road in Week 1.
