Caitlin Clark earns All-WNBA honors for second time

Iowa's own Caitlin Clark was voted one of the WNBA’s five best players this season by a national media panel.

The Indiana Fever star was one of five players named to the league's All-WNBA First Team on Oct. 24 during Game 4 of the WNBA Finals. Fellow Fever player Kelsey Mitchell and 2026 Rookie of the Year Olivia Miles of the Minnesota Lynx joined Clark, while Las Vegas Aces center and five-time league MVP A'ja Wilson and New York Liberty forward Breanna Stewart rounded out the group.

The Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries, the two teams in this year's finals, did not have any players named to the first team. Atlanta did have two players, guard Rhyne Howard and Defensive Player of the Year Angel Reese, named to the All-WNBA second team. The other second-team selections were Dallas Wings guard Paige Bueckers, Las Vegas Aces guard Jackie Young and Washington Mystics center Shakira Austin.

How All-WNBA honors work

Making the league's All-WNBA teams is one of its highest individual honors. Sportswriters and broadcasters from various outlets vote on the selections, with the five highest vote-getters making the first team and the next five earning second-team honors.

The distinction also carries significant financial implications, as players on rookie contracts who earn All-WNBA honors can renegotiate their salaries under the new collective bargaining agreement.

Clark was already eligible to renegotiate her deal after earning first-team All-WNBA honors as a rookie in 2024. Fellow 2024 draft pick Angel Reese and Minnesota's Olivia Miles are among the players now eligible to do the same after earning All-WNBA honors.

Caitlin Clark is set to earn $597,596 in the final year of her rookie contract but could receive up to 17% of the Indiana Fever's projected $8.25 million salary cap by signing an Exceptional Performance on Individual Contract deal.

Clark returns with record-setting 2026 season

Returning from an injury-plagued 2025 season, Clark averaged 22.3 points, 8.3 assists and 4 rebounds per game while shooting a career-best 44.6% from the field. She played 43 games between the regular season and playoffs and became the first player in WNBA history to finish in the top three in both scoring and assists per game.

Clark's five games with at least 30 points and 10 assists in 2026 are more than every other player in WNBA history combined, while her 13 games with at least 20 points and 10 assists are more than double any other player's career total, according to the Indiana Fever.

The 24-year-old was named to her third consecutive All-Star team and finished fourth in MVP voting. Indiana finished with a 28-16 regular-season record before losing to Las Vegas, 2-1, in the first round of the WNBA playoffs.

The Fever have since shaken up their front office, with president Kelly Krauskopf stepping down and general manager Amber Cox being fired. Mitchell and Sophie Cunningham also headline a group of Fever players set to enter free agency.
