SC Cambuur host Go Ahead Eagles at the Kooi Stadion in Leeuwarden on Saturday in an Eredivisie matchday 11 fixture.
The promoted hosts are 10th in the Eredivisie table on 12 points - collecting all of them in their last six league games - while ninth-placed Go Ahead Eagles have 14 points, no away win and no clean sheet from their 10 league matches.
Cambuur opened their return to the Eredivisie with four straight defeats, losing 4-0 at home to Excelsior, 3-1 at Fortuna Sittard, 5-2 at home to Feyenoord and 4-1 at home to FC Twente.
Johan Plat’s side have since taken 12 points from a possible 18, drawing 2-2 at Telstar after leading 2-0 into stoppage time, beating NEC Nijmegen 3-0 at home, drawing 1-1 at ADO Den Haag through Fabian Kvam’s 44th-minute goal and winning 1-0 at PEC Zwolle on October 11.
Cambuur led AZ 2-1 at the break on October 18 through Nicolas Binder’s seventh-minute goal and a Hamache strike just before half time, but Devid Bouah was sent off for a second booking shortly after the restart and Mexx Meerdink equalised from the penalty spot in the 83rd minute, awarded by VAR after goalkeeper Thijs Jansen punched Mees de Wit.
The 6-1 win at bottom-placed Willem II on October 24 was their biggest league victory of the season, with Binder scoring in the ninth and 58th minutes, Hamache in the 13th, Ismael Baouf in the 18th, Rafik El Arguioui in the 62nd and Jason Ceka in the 89th.
Binder, Hamache and El Arguioui have five league goals each, which accounts for 15 of Cambuur’s 19, and Plat’s team have scored first in each of their last six matches while conceding only six goals in that run.
Home form remains the concern for Plat, with four points and 15 goals conceded from five games at the Kooi Stadion compared with eight points from five league games on the road, and Cambuur arrive after a 2-0 KNVB Beker win at Kloetinge on Tuesday, in which Sami Bouhoudane scored in the first minute and in stoppage time.
Go Ahead Eagles have drawn five of their 10 league games, leaving Joseph Oosting’s side ninth on 14 points with 23 goals scored and 23 conceded.
The Eagles opened with a 4-1 home win over Willem II, drew 2-2 at Feyenoord and beat ADO Den Haag 3-1 at De Adelaarshorst before a 5-2 defeat at AZ on August 29.
Four successive draws followed, 3-3 at FC Utrecht after leading 3-0 and conceding an equaliser in the 90th minute, 1-1 against Groningen, 1-1 at NEC Nijmegen and 3-3 against Sparta Rotterdam on October 10, when Terho levelled in the 84th minute after Soren Tengstedt had restored the lead in the 75th.
A 4-1 loss at PEC Zwolle on October 18 ended that run, but Go Ahead Eagles responded with a 3-2 home win over Telstar on October 23, in which Tengstedt scored in the seventh and 33rd minutes, Evert Linthorst added a third in the 67th and Sem Valk pulled one back in stoppage time.
Tengstedt has eight league goals, ahead of Stefan Sigurdarson on four and Victor Edvardsen and Mathis Suray on three each, yet the Eagles have scored and conceded in all 10 league matches and are still waiting for their first clean sheet.
The picture changes with the venue, as Go Ahead Eagles are unbeaten at De Adelaarshorst with three wins and two draws but have drawn three and lost two of their five away games, conceding 15 goals, and they arrive after a 5-0 KNVB Beker win at Koninklijke HFC on Tuesday.

Cambuur remain without Jamal Amofa, who is out with a cruciate ligament injury and is not expected back until next summer, while Wout Asselman, Daan Visser (knee) and goalkeeper Jasper Meijster (hand) are also unavailable.
Bouah is available again after serving his suspension for the red card against AZ and is expected to reclaim his place in the back four from Rik Mulders, who started in his absence at Willem II.
El Arguioui, who has five league goals, broke his nose last Saturday and is a doubt, with Ethan Apkakou the alternative in midfield if Plat decides against taking a risk.
Go Ahead Eagles are without goalkeeper Nick Marsman, who has a knee injury and is not expected back until early January, while defender Pim Saathof has not played since May 2025 because of a knee problem and is also due back around the turn of the year.
Gerrit Nauber made his comeback in the cup win at Koninklijke HFC, almost a year after fracturing his leg on October 23, 2025, while Jasper Cillessen, signed last week as a third goalkeeper because of Marsman’s injury, started that cup tie but is not the first choice ahead of Kjetil Haug.
Julius Dirksen partnered Joris Kramer in central defence against Telstar, with Giovanni van Zwam, who started against Sparta Rotterdam and in the cup, on the bench, and the pair are competing for one place.
Cambuur possible starting lineup:
Jansen; Costarelli, Van Duijl, Baouf, Bouah; Maertens, Souren; Ceka, El Arguioui, Hamache; Binder
Go Ahead Eagles possible starting lineup:
Haug; Sampsted, Kramer, Dirksen, James; Meulensteen, Linthorst; Tengstedt, Suray, Sivertsen; Edvardsen
Cambuur have the stronger recent run, but it comes with four points from five home games, while Go Ahead Eagles have scored in every league match this season, so the hosts are unlikely to keep a clean sheet.
The Eagles have conceded in all 10 league games and have drawn three of their five away matches, with the other two ending in the heavy defeats at AZ and PEC Zwolle, and they let a 3-0 lead slip at Utrecht and a 3-2 lead go against Sparta Rotterdam, which suggests that Oosting’s side will score but cannot be relied upon to protect an advantage.
The last five meetings, all played between 2021 and 2023, produced 15 goals, including Cambuur’s 4-1 win on March 5, 2023, and the hosts won two of those five games against one for Go Ahead Eagles.
Cambuur should score first for a seventh league game in a row through Binder or Hamache, but Tengstedt’s eight goals and the Eagles’ habit of drawing, which they have done in five of 10 league games, point towards a 2-2 draw.
