A former special teamer of the Pittsburgh Steelers has found a new home in the NFL.
The Los Angeles Rams signed former Pittsburgh Steelers long snapper Jake McQuaide to their practice squad on Wednesday, according to NFL insider Aaron Wilson of Houston’s KPRC2.
McQuaide, 38, signed with the Steelers ahead of the 2025 season following a preseason injury to starting long snapper Christian Kuntz. However, he was eventually released as part of the team’s final roster cuts.
He began his NFL career as an undrafted free agent in the 2011 NFL Draft out of Ohio State. McQuaide joined the Rams, who he played for from 2011-20, appearing in all 160 regular season games through his first 10 seasons and earning two Pro Bowls nods in 2016 and 2017.
Since then, he has spent time with the Dallas Cowboys (2021-22), Detroit Lions (2023), Chicago Bears (2024), Minnesota Vikings (2024), Miami Dolphins (2024), and Rams (2025) for a second stint.
McQuaide began his collegiate career as a walk on for the Buckeyes and was teammates with Steelers long-time defensive lineman Cam Heyward.
During his time at Ohio State, McQuaide remained as the team’s long snapper but was never able to take snaps or record any stats at the tight end position. He was a part of three Big Ten Conference championships in 2007, 2008 and 2009.
McQuaide is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio.
