The Baltimore Ravens were forced to make another change along their offensive line Sunday after rookie right guard Vega Ioane suffered a knee injury against the Cincinnati Bengals. Baltimore announced that Ioane was questionable to return. Emery Jones Jr. replaced the rookie first-round pick at right guard, continuing a season of constant movement along the Ravens’ offensive front.
Ioane’s injury came during his first game back at his natural position. He had started the previous three games at center after injuries depleted Baltimore’s depth at the position. Cam Jurgens' return allowed Ioane to move back to right guard against Cincinnati, giving the Ravens their preferred alignment for the first time since acquiring Jurgens from the Philadelphia Eagles.
Jurgens made his Ravens debut at center after clearing the NFL’s concussion protocol. He missed Baltimore’s previous two games after the trade but practiced fully all week and entered Sunday without an injury designation.
The Ravens were already without guard Andrew Vorhees, who was inactive because of a foot injury. That left Jones as the direct replacement for Ioane. The rookie had previously played right guard when Ioane was forced to move inside.
Baltimore will closely monitor Ioane’s availability because its offensive line has already absorbed injuries at nearly every interior position. The Ravens entered the game with three centers on injured reserve and had hoped Jurgens’ debut would finally provide stability.
Instead, Ioane’s knee injury forced Baltimore to adjust again during an important AFC North matchup. His potential absence would leave Jones responsible for protecting Tyler Huntley and creating running lanes for Derrick Henry against Cincinnati’s defensive front.
