"If you're going to win a league, there has to be periods in games where you dominate that game... Rangers don't do that."
Sky Sports' Kris Boyd is concerned about his former club's "disjointed" performance in their 2-2 draw with Premiership title rivals Hearts.
Derek McInnes was booed loudly by the home support as he emerged from the tunnel for his first match back since leaving for Ibrox in June.
However, his team silenced a pumped-up home crowd when Kevin Kelsy scored a 16th-minute opener after a lapse from Laurent Mendy.
Hearts turned the game round with goals from Claudio Braga and Calvin Miller early in the second half. But Olwethu Makhanya's 89th-minute header rescued a late draw to keep Rangers four points behind leaders Celtic, who dropped points against Dundee United.
"They've stolen a point because, especially that second half, it's got to be better," said Boyd after watching the game at Tynecastle.
"If you're going to win a league, there has to be periods in games where you dominate that game.
"When you're suffering, put together a few passes that frustrate the opposition. Trust me, there is nothing worse than chasing a team that keep the ball for a period of time. Rangers don't do that."
The result halted the Ibrox side's winning Premiership run at nine games, while Hearts extended their unbeaten home record to 26 games.
"Rangers don't have players that get on the ball and make six or seven passes to then drag the opposition out.
"Can [Ryan] Naderi run? Of course. Can Kelsey run? Yes. Can [Djeidi] Gassama run? Yes. Can [Minsu] Kim run? Of course they can run. They can run at speed when they want to do it.
"Hearts are a pressing team. They'll get after you. There's gaps in behind. But everything's just so rushed for Rangers.
"Rangers really struggled to deal with Hearts. Emmanuel Fernandez, he looked so at unease with the Hearts attacking players. The amount of times that he caused problems for his own team-mates, again.
"Everything just seems disjointed."
