Future Eagles Come From Behind to Beat Cyprus at FIFA U-15 World Cup

Nigeria’s Future Eagles recorded their first victory at the 2026 FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan, after coming from behind to defeat Cyprus 2-1.

The Nigerian youngsters showed resilience and determination to overturn an early deficit, with goals from Wisdom Oche and Timothy Ijach securing a memorable victory for the team.

Cyprus took the lead in the 12th minute through Georgios Christodoulou, putting the Future Eagles under pressure early in the encounter.

However, Nigeria responded swiftly, as Wisdom Oche restored parity in the 17th minute to bring the West African side back into the contest.

The Future Eagles continued to push forward and completed their comeback in the 26th minute when Timothy Ijach found the back of the net to give Nigeria a 2-1 advantage.

Despite the early goals, Nigeria held on to their lead to secure all three points and register their first win of the tournament.

The victory represents an important boost for the young Nigerian side as they continue their campaign at the international youth football competition.

The Future Eagles will now turn their attention to their next fixture against Pakistan as they seek to build on their impressive comeback victory and maintain their momentum in Baku.

Nigeria’s ability to recover from conceding the opening goal will provide encouragement to the coaching crew as the team prepares for its next challenge.
