Barcelona have reportedly joined Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in the race to sign Galatasaray midfielder Aleksey Batrakov following his impressive performances in the UEFA Champions League.
According to Barca Universal, citing SPORT and Turkish newspaper Milliyet, the Catalan giants are monitoring the 21-year-old Russia international as they consider strengthening their attacking options.
Batrakov has attracted interest from several European clubs since joining Galatasaray from Lokomotiv Moscow during the summer transfer window.
The midfielder completed a €25 million move to the Turkish champions, signing a contract that will keep him at the club until 2031.
He has wasted little time making an impression in Turkey, registering two goals and two assists in his first nine competitive appearances.
His performances in the Champions League have particularly caught the attention of potential suitors, including Barcelona, who witnessed his qualities firsthand during their meeting with Galatasaray in Istanbul.
Batrakov scored against Hansi Flick’s side before adding another goal against French outfit Lille, further strengthening his growing reputation.
The Russian’s ability to operate between opposition lines, create scoring opportunities and make intelligent runs into dangerous areas has made him an attractive prospect for clubs seeking attacking reinforcements.
However, Barcelona could face a significant financial challenge if they decide to pursue the midfielder.
Galatasaray have reportedly inserted a €55 million release clause into Batrakov’s contract and are confident that his continued development could attract a club willing to meet their valuation.
With the midfielder tied to the Turkish club until 2031, Galatasaray are under little pressure to negotiate a deal below their asking price.
Meanwhile, PSG are also keeping tabs on Batrakov, while Premier League giants Chelsea and Man United have been linked with the midfielder.
The interest from several financially powerful clubs could complicate Barcelona’s chances of securing his signature, particularly given the competition for places in Flick’s squad.
Despite their admiration for Batrakov, the Catalan giants have yet to submit a formal offer, with their interest currently limited to monitoring his progress.
The Spanish champions are expected to continue assessing the midfielder’s development before deciding whether to make a concrete move.
