Nigeria’s Super Sand Eagles will miss the 2026 CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations after Ghana eliminated them 10-7 on aggregate, with the Black Sharks joining seven other nations in the tournament scheduled to take place in Senegal, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Ghana sealed their qualification with a 7-4 victory in the second leg in Keta, completing the aggregate win and ending Nigeria’s hopes of reaching the continental championship.
The result secured Ghana a second consecutive appearance at the competition, while Nigeria will have to regroup after falling short in the qualifying campaign.
Seven countries secured their places through the two-round qualification series organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). Senegal qualified automatically as hosts and defending champions.
The tournament, initially scheduled for November 7 to 15, has been moved to November 28 to December 6, 2026, following changes to Senegal’s sporting calendar.
The competition will also serve as Africa’s qualifying tournament for the 2027 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, with the two finalists expected to earn places at the global competition.
Morocco booked their place with an emphatic 11-3 aggregate victory over Libya, winning the return leg 7-1. Malawi were equally convincing, defeating Seychelles 16-3 on aggregate to secure their third consecutive appearance.
Uganda also qualified after overcoming Burundi 13-10 on aggregate, returning to the tournament for the first time since 2022.
Angola secured their place after progressing past Mauritius and overcoming Egypt in the second round, while Mozambique defeated Tanzania to advance.
Mauritania completed the eight-team lineup by overturning a first-leg deficit to beat Côte d’Ivoire 7-4 in the decisive return fixture.
Senegal will aim to extend their dominance after winning the previous five editions, including the 2024 championship in Egypt.
With qualification concluded, the eight nations will turn their attention to Senegal, where the continental title and places at the 2027 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup will be at stake.
