It doesn’t feel too long ago that the transfer window was closing, yet we’re now a little more than a couple of months away from it reopening in January.
As things stand after a decent start to the season, Liverpool may not look at the winter window as too much of a priority, although there is plenty of time for that outlook to change. In any case, there are some obvious areas of Andoni Iraola’s squad which could use some work.
And it might not just be incomings which returning sporting director Julian Ward has to deal with, with the latest reports suggesting that an exit could be on the cards for a senior player.
Here is the Liverpool.com verdict on the transfer gossip to emerge around the Reds today.
Federico Chiesa could leave Liverpool in January, with three Italian clubs eyeing up a potential move according to TuttoMercatoWeb.
Inter Milan, Lazio and Atalanta are all said to be interested. Inter could accelerate a move if Luis Henrqiue leaves the San Siro, while a move to Atalanta could be complicated by Chiesa’s previous issues with the club’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli.
Lazio could also face problems regarding Chiesa’s wages, but the idea that the forward will be back in Italy for the second half of the season is said to be gaining traction.
Liverpool.com says: It's time for Liverpool to cut its losses on Chiesa. He clearly is not part of Iraola's plans, and he probaby should have been offloaded in the summer with that being the case.
His signing made sense in 2024, considering how little Juventus was asking for, but it just hasn't worked out. If there's genuine interest in January, a deal should be struck, even if it means taking a hit on his price.
Liverpool is “seriously interested” in signing Luka Vuskovic as a long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk, according to TeamTalk.
Brighton is said to value the Croatian at $133 million (£100M), having only signed him from Tottenham for $67 million (£50M) during the summer.

Liverpool FC have launched their new home kit for the 2026/27, inspired by iconic adidas strip worn during the club's 1989/90 title-winning campaign.
However, another report from Football Insider claims that Liverpool will have to look elsewhere for a new center-back, with Brighton having no plans to sell Vuskovic and refusing to entertain any interest.
