UFC fighter's teammate passes out in brutal training challenge ahead of UFC 333

An MMA fighter passed out in a brutal training session helping teammate Alex Volkanovski prepare for his next fight in the Octagon.

Volkanovski returns to action next weekend at UFC 333 when he takes on Movslar Evloev in the main event and the featherweight champion is being put through his paces to ensure he is in top condition for fight night.

On his official YouTube channel, the 38-year-old showed a behind-the-scenes look at how gruelling his training exercises have been.

Volkanovski and his team arrived in Abu Dhabi after 24 hours of travel and completed in multiple train sessions - including a double session in one day.

After pad work, the Freestyle Fighting Gym crew got stuck into a challenge which Volkanovski described as "pretty crazy".

He also explained that in the past, people had been spewing and he predicted vomit would appear.

The drill began with a pair of fighters peforming kicks to pads at a frightening intensity for more than 10 minutes before they went on the assault bike and cycled at an insane pace - with the goal being of moving an object that was on the floor.

In the end, one individual called Mikey dropped his head and fell onto the handle bars. His teammates then placed him onto the floor and there was concern as they urged him to stay quiet and recover from the exhaustion.

Volkanovski described the battle as "absolute war" but then after checking on their pal, the very same drill continued with other participants and they too were beasted.

Alex Volkanovski gives clear prediction for UFC main event

Volkanovski is on a two-fight winning streak after back-to-back victories and he now defends his strap against Evloev, who is undefeated and earned his title shot following a victory over Britain's Lerone Murphy in March.

Volkanovski, who starred in the new Street Fighter film, is not getting any younger but still feels as though he is performing at a high level. In fact, he believes people will be viewing this version of him as the best they have seen and he is extremely confident of a finish as opposed to a decision win.

“I’m very confident in my skills and the fighter I still am,” Volkanovski said, speaking to MMA Junkie.

“I think I get my hand raised, and I think I can do it in pretty wild fashion. I believe I can get a finish. I think I can do it inside the five. He’s saying maybe he wants to win the decision. I’m saying I’ll finish him inside the five rounds for sure. Great opponent. Great skill. I just really think I’m going to perform, and it’s going to be one of my best performances. A lot of people are going to go say after this fight, ‘Is that the best Volk we’ve ever seen?’ I truly do believe that, I think just purely for the performance I’m going to bring.”
