The Philadelphia 76ers pulled off an incredible comeback, overcoming a 29-point deficit to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 114-106 behind monster performances from Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid, LeBron James, and Jaylen Brown.
Maxey led the way with 32 points, six assists, and two steals in 42 minutes, while Embiid added 24 points and seven rebounds on an efficient 8-16 shooting. LeBron finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and three steals, and Brown contributed 21 points and eight rebounds. The four stars combined for 94 points, giving Philadelphia enough firepower to turn the game completely around.
The 76ers’ biggest advantage came from their ability to move the ball and keep attacking. They finished with 24 assists and scored 64 points in the paint, while committing 16 turnovers compared to Cleveland’s 21.
Philadelphia also shot slightly better from the field and at the free-throw line, finding just enough separation despite both teams struggling from three-point range.
Cleveland had several strong individual performances, including Donovan Mitchell‘s 32 points and 10 rebounds, but the Cavaliers couldn’t protect their massive lead. Their seven made three-pointers and 21 turnovers proved costly as Philadelphia chipped away before taking control.
Here are the 76ers player ratings from an unforgettable comeback victory.
Game Stats: 32 PTS, 3 REB, 6 AST, 2 STL, 2 TOV, 12-23 FG, 2-7 3-PT FG, 6-8 FT, 42 MIN
Maxey was the driving force behind Philadelphia’s remarkable comeback. He scored 32 points, dished out six assists, and recorded two steals in 42 minutes, leading the 76ers in scoring while helping orchestrate the offense.
His 12-23 shooting was solid, and he converted six of eight free throws. Maxey also committed only two turnovers, an important detail in a game where Cleveland struggled to protect possession. His ability to attack the defense and generate offense gave Philadelphia the scoring punch it needed to erase the enormous deficit.
This was the kind of performance that separates a good point guard from a true offensive engine. Maxey delivered when Philadelphia desperately needed someone to take control, and his combination of scoring, playmaking, and defensive activity made him the standout performer of the comeback.
Game Stats: 24 PTS, 7 REB, 1 AST, 1 TOV, 8-16 FG, 1-4 3-PT FG, 7-9 FT, 34 MIN
Embiid was a major force in Philadelphia’s comeback, finishing with 24 points and seven rebounds on 8-16 shooting. He also made seven free throws and committed just one turnover in 34 minutes.
His combination of interior scoring and free-throw production helped the 76ers keep the pressure on Cleveland. Embiid didn’t need to force shots to generate offense, and his efficient performance gave Philadelphia a dependable scoring option as the deficit shrank.
The Cavaliers had no easy answer when Embiid established himself offensively, and his ability to convert opportunities around the basket helped Philadelphia win the paint battle, 64-60.
Game Stats: 17 PTS, 10 REB, 5 AST, 3 STL, 1 BLK, 5 TOV, 5-14 FG, 1-4 3-PT FG, 6-7 FT, 33 MIN
LeBron delivered an all-around performance that helped Philadelphia survive its early struggles and eventually complete the comeback. He finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, recording a double-double while adding three steals and a block.
His 5-14 shooting wasn’t particularly efficient, and five turnovers kept him from earning an even higher grade. Still, LeBron found other ways to impact the game, especially with his rebounding and defensive activity. His experience and versatility were valuable in a game that required Philadelphia to stay composed after falling behind by 29 points.
LeBron didn’t need to lead the team in scoring to make a major difference. His ability to contribute across the stat sheet helped the 76ers turn a disastrous start into a memorable victory.
Game Stats: 21 PTS, 8 REB, 4 AST, 1 STL, 4 TOV, 10-20 FG, 1-3 3-PT FG, 38 MIN
Brown provided a crucial scoring punch with 21 points and eight rebounds, shooting 10-20 from the field. He also contributed four assists and a steal in 38 minutes, helping Philadelphia maintain its offensive pressure throughout the comeback.
Brown wasn’t especially effective from three-point range, making just one of three attempts, but he consistently found ways to score inside the arc. His rebounding and playmaking also gave the 76ers another dimension beyond the contributions of Maxey, Embiid, and LeBron.
Philadelphia needed all four of its leading players to deliver, and Brown did his part by providing steady scoring and valuable work on the glass.
Game Stats: 11 PTS, 7 REB, 6 AST, 3 STL, 1 TOV, 4-11 FG, 1-4 3-PT FG, 2-3 FT, 33 MIN
Edgecombe filled the stat sheet with 11 points, seven rebounds, and six assists in 33 minutes. He also recorded three steals, giving Philadelphia valuable defensive activity while helping facilitate the offense.
His 4-11 shooting wasn’t especially efficient, and he made just one of four three-point attempts. However, Edgecombe contributed in several other areas and committed only one turnover. His rebounding and playmaking helped the 76ers maintain pressure while their stars carried the scoring load.
For a young player in a game with this much at stake, contributing across multiple categories was important. Edgecombe gave Philadelphia a useful supporting performance without needing to force the issue offensively.
Game Stats: 3 PTS, 3 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL, 1 TOV, 1-1 FG, 1-1 3-PT FG, 25 MIN
Caldwell-Pope was efficient in limited offensive opportunities, making his only field-goal attempt a three-pointer. He finished with three points, three rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 25 minutes.
His shooting efficiency was excellent, but he didn’t have a large scoring role. He provided useful supporting minutes without turning the ball over excessively.
Game Stats: 2 PTS, 2 REB, 1 BLK, 1 TOV, 1-2 FG, 0-1 3-PT FG, 14 MIN
Bona scored two points on 1-2 shooting in 14 minutes, adding two rebounds and a block. He also committed one turnover and three fouls, limiting his overall impact.
His defensive presence around the rim was useful, but Philadelphia relied primarily on its starters to generate the offense needed to complete the comeback.
Game Stats: 2 PTS, 3 REB, 1 TOV, 0-4 FG, 0-4 3-PT FG, 2-3 FT, 17 MIN
Simons struggled badly from the field, missing all four of his shots and all four three-point attempts. He scored two points by making two of three free throws and added three rebounds in 17 minutes.
His shooting struggles made it difficult for Philadelphia to get much offensive value from his minutes. In a game where the starters needed to do so much work to erase a 29-point deficit, the bench had limited room for inefficient possessions.
Game Stats: 2 PTS, 1 REB, 1-1 FG, 4 MIN
Walker played only four minutes but made his lone field-goal attempt, finishing with two points and one rebound. He didn’t commit a turnover, although he picked up a foul in his brief appearance.
His role was minimal, but he made the most of his limited opportunity.
