UEFA has shortlisted Morocco international Abdessamad Ezzalzouli’s goal in Real Betis’ 3–2 win over Porto at La Cartuja Stadium on Wednesday for the Champions League’s Goal of the Round award for matchday two.
The Atlas Lions winger opened the scoring in the 47th minute, finishing a fine team move that began with Marc Roca playing a through ball to Fran García. Ezzalzouli curled his shot from the left side of the penalty area into the top corner, beyond the reach of Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa.
He is competing for the award alongside Porto’s Samu Aghehowa, Feyenoord’s Zeki Amdouni and Paris Saint-Germain’s Désiré Doué.
Real Betis goalkeeper Álvaro Valles also impressed in the same match, making a crucial one-handed save late on to preserve his side’s lead and secure all three points.
UEFA shortlisted his stop among the best saves of the round, alongside those by Thibaut Courtois, Alisson Becker, Nikita Haikin and Gregor Kobel.
