Chelsea, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich have all set their sights on former Tottenham centre-back Luka Vuskovic, following his impressive start to life in the English top flight.

Luka Vuskovic could not have asked for a better start to life in the Premier League after swapping Tottenham Hotspur for Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Seagulls currently sit third in the table after a strong opening run that has seen them win four, draw once and lose three times in their first eight matches.

At the heart of those performances has been Vuskovic. The former Spurs defender has featured in all eight games and helped Brighton record five clean sheets – the most in the division.

His impressive displays have already left Spurs fans questioning whether Tottenham were right to sell the Croat.

Chelsea, Barcelona and Bayern Munich eye former Tottenham defender Luka Vuskovic

While Spurs may regret their decision, clubs across Europe are taking note of Vuskovic, with TeamTalk reporting that Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are all interested in signing the Croatian centre-back.

It is understood that Bayern Munich are the most serious contenders for his signature. The Bundesliga giants have tracked Vuskovic since his time at Hamburg.

However, a move at this stage appears unlikely, with Bayern already well stocked at centre-back. Dayot Upamecano, Jonathan Tah, Kim Min-jae and Hiroki Ito remain on their books.

Should one of those defenders – most likely Kim or Ito – be sold, it could create the squad space required for a serious move. Vuskovic himself is said to be open to a return to Germany in the future.

Spurs watching closely as sell-on clause comes into play

Tottenham will certainly be keeping a close eye on developments involving Vušković, whom they sold for £50 million last summer.

The Lilywhites inserted a 20% sell-on clause into the deal, entitling them to a share of any profit Brighton make from a future sale. Spurs also have matching rights, meaning they can match any accepted bid for the defender, though they do not hold a direct buy-back clause.

While Bayern are considered the most serious suitors, Barcelona and Chelsea remain in the race, with both clubs monitoring the Croatia international ahead of a potential move next summer. Liverpool and Real Madrid have also been mentioned as possible suitors.

No formal offers have yet been made, and any move would likely spark competition among several elite clubs. Brighton, meanwhile, are under no pressure to sell, with Vuskovic’s contract running until 2031.
