Glamorgan’s Asa Tribe hit 72 as he and his brother Zak’s 133-run partnership helped Jersey beat Kenya by 123 runs in Nairobi.

The victory means Jersey have won ICC Challenge League A with three games to spare.

They have a seven-point lead over second-placed Kuwait with three games to play.

Jersey will compete in the Cricket World Cup Qualifier play-off in Nepal in December after their triumph.

Jersey meet Kuwait on Tuesday before playing Denmark on Friday and Qatar a day later.

Batting first Jersey opener Harrison Carlyon made 50 while Josh Lawrenson made 37 - both were bowled by Francis Mutua to leave Jersey on 97-2 off 13.2 overs.

The Tribe brothers‘ third-wicket stand lasted 22 overs before Zak - who hit 150 against Papua New Guinea on Thursday - was caught for 65 off 67 balls having hit two sixes and five fours as the islanders moved on to 230-3 with 14-and-a-half overs to play.

Jonty Jenner scored 26 before Asa Tribe was trapped lbw by Sachin Gill for an 86-ball 72 as Jersey moved on to 267-5.

Ben Ward scored 19 and Charlie Brennan got 12 as Jersey ended on 320-9 from their 59 overs.

In reply Kenya captain Dhiren Gondaria hit 55, but few of his teammates were able to support him as the hosts lost wickets at regular intervals.

Gill scored 60 as he and Sukhdeep Singh (31) had a sixth wicket stand of 61 before the latter was caught off Zak Tribe’s bowling to leave Kenya on 152-6 from 31.4 overs.

Ward went on to rip through the tail, returning figures of 5-28 as the Kenyans were bowled out for 197.
