(Allianz Arena, München) Fresh off winning the 2026 Ballon d'Or award in London, Harry Kane was in fine form as he took a back seat for Bayern Munich's 6-1 win over 1.FC Magdeburg in the second round of the DFB-Pokal tonight.

"It was a crazy week. What an unbelievable night on Monday [at the Ballon d'Or ceremony in London]. There was a lot of waiting around and trying to picture what it would be like to win," Kane told Bulinews.com and other media present in the mixed zone.

"It's really special, the support I've had from friends, family and fans. It's just been almost overwhelming. I had a good night with ones close to me and now it's just straight back to work and take it all in.

"I could have played tonight but Danksy said he was trying to give me a break in this game. We have played a lot of games lately and he was thinking about bringing me on, but then we scored the fourth goal and killed the game off," he explained.

Kane, who posted the quote 'work hard in silence, let success be your noise' after his Ballon d'Or triumph, but the 33-year-old was quick to deny whether it was directed at his nearest competitors Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal.

"No, not at all, this is a quote I've loved throughout my whole career to be honest. It amplifies me, what I do, and how I approach hard work, discipline and dedication. Many times I have had to train on my own.

"Behind the scenes, all the work that I do. I just think it's a great quote and one that lots of boys and girls can look at and use to help them as well," the striker said, offering advice to those who look up to him as an idol.

Asked about Saturday's Bundesliga meeting with top-of-the-table Borussia Dortmund, the Englishman said he is already looking forward to the test and a chance to pull clear of their rivals at the summit.

"It's a big match, it's going to be the biggest of the season in the Bundesliga so far. We know how much of a boost it will be to win and go three points clear. So, hopefully we can finish the week on a high this Saturday," he concluded.
