Real Madrid and Barcelona will face difficult La Liga tests against Sevilla and Real Betis respectively as they seek to maintain their title challenges ahead of next week’s El Clásico.
Madrid welcome Sevilla to the Santiago Bernabéu after winning five of their last six matches in all competitions.
Their latest result was an impressive 4-3 comeback victory over Roma in the Champions League on Wednesday, after falling two goals behind.
José Mourinho’s men will hope to carry that momentum into the league, as they sit six points behind leaders Barcelona and cannot afford another setback.
Madrid have won their last seven home La Liga matches and scored four goals in four of their last five home league victories. Sevilla, however, could prove difficult opponents.
They have won four, drawn one and lost three of their opening eight league matches to sit in the top six.
Their latest outing ended in a frustrating 3-3 draw against Levante after they surrendered the lead twice and conceded an equaliser in the 100th minute.
Despite that disappointment, Sevilla have performed well away from home, recording two wins and two draws this season.
Meanwhile, Barcelona face an in-form Real Betis side seeking to challenge for a place among the league’s leading teams.
Betis arrive after beating Porto 3-2 in the Champions League on Wednesday.
They have won six of their last seven competitive matches and matched their best points tally at this stage of a La Liga season.
The hosts will hope to use their home advantage, having won their last eight matches at Estadio La Cartuja, their temporary home.
