The official website of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) has highlighted the decisive nature of the clash between Morocco and Argentina, scheduled for today, Friday, in Rabat, in the third and final round of Group A at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, held from October 17 to November 7, 2026.

Under the headline “Morocco and Argentina: a final-like showdown for the Atlas Lionesses,” the world governing body noted that both teams go into the match determined to keep their tournament hopes alive, after each recorded one win and one defeat in the opening two rounds.

FIFA wrote that Morocco “nevertheless holds the advantage on goal difference, but the stakes remain the same for both sides, who must do everything they can to keep their fate in their own hands.”

FIFA stressed that the Atlas Lionesses, backed by their home crowd, will need to draw on the experience gained from the previous edition and rely on their collective strength to take another step forward.

Morocco opened the tournament with a convincing 4-0 victory over New Zealand before falling 4-2 to Germany. Argentina, meanwhile, revived their hopes with a 2-0 win over New Zealand after losing their opening match 2-1 to Germany.

Germany, who have already secured qualification for the round of 16, leads the group with six points, while Morocco and Argentina each have three.

FIFA also underlined what is at stake in the encounter for Argentina, who are making their first appearance in the competition and are hoping to extend their World Cup run.

For the Moroccan players, the goal is to confirm the progress made since their debut appearance and to take advantage of home soil and home support to reach the knockout stage.

The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup brings together 24 teams divided into six groups. The top two teams from each group qualify for the round of 16, along with the four best third-placed teams.
