The prestigious Ikoyi Ladies Open will return for its historic 51st edition from 11th to 13th November 2026 at Ikoyi Club 1938, with organisers unveiling an ambitious global vision for women’s golf.
Lady Captain Mrs Annie Enikhenena revealed that this year’s edition, themed “Enjoy Golf, Go Global”, captures the tournament’s drive to take the Open beyond Nigeria’s shores.
“For us, this is more than just another golf tournament. It is a proud tradition that brings ladies together through our love of golf, friendship and healthy competition. Reaching the 51st edition is a significant milestone,” she said.
She announced that the three-day championship will deliver competitive golf, fellowship and memorable experiences, with international interest already surging.
“Ladies have already registered from Uganda, Ghana, Zambia, Benin Republic and Italy, alongside players from across Nigeria.”
In a major boost, this year’s tournament is officially sanctioned as a World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) event. The WAGR system, administered by The R&A and the United States Golf Association (USGA), allows elite amateurs to earn valuable world ranking points.
Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, Dr Karin Ekpe, recalled that last year, a golfer from Benin Club earned a place on the WAGR after an outstanding performance at the Open.
The competition format will see 36 holes played over the first two days, with leading players qualifying for the final round on Day 3 where the champion will be crowned.
The event was graced by representatives of key corporate sponsors, including United Airlines, Digifon, ADL Solutions, Zenith Bank and KBL.
Also present were executive Golf Club Captain, Afolabi Balogun; Vice Captain Obinna Okoli; and Trustee, Mrs Bola Ondri and past lady captains, matrons and patrons.
The tournament will climax with a grand Gala Night tagged “A Night of Glamour and Elegance”, celebrating sporting excellence with golfers, sponsors and distinguished guests.
