David Horseman was proud of the way we competed in a back-and-forth 3-3 draw with Bayern Munich.

Hakeem Abubakar put us ahead in the opening stages, but Bayern raced into a 3-1 lead before the break.

We hit back in the second half though, with goals from Marli Salmon and Emerson Nwaneri securing a hard-earned point.

"This type of game is the reason we love the competition," Horseman said on the contest, "I though it was a game of the highest level.

"There were outstanding players on both teams. The tactical challenges, the way they rotated and moved in our face, I think maybe Brighton in the PL2 are probably the only team that comes similar to moving like that.

"Then you could see when we equalised at the end, what it meant to the players, and I think this competition gives all those things, and I think probably a draw is a fair result."

The point leaves us 18th in the league phase table, one point above the cut-off for the knockout stages in 22nd.

But even though we came from 3-1 down to secure the draw, Horseman felt we could've had more.

"We're a bit disappointed because we think the goals we gave away were not good on our part today. At this level, you're going to struggle to win games if you're like that.

"But unbelievable character and excellent, excellent play, and three really good goals on our part, so we'll take the draw. It really gives us a chance. We're probably a really good win away from maybe qualifying [for the knockout stages] for the first time [in the league phase era].

"So yes, it feels like there's more positives. Some big areas to learn from, but more positives, that's for sure."

Our team had a particular young composition in Bavaria on Wednesday, with several players from our under-18s side included.

But Horseman said the performances of our under-18s in recent weeks have left him with a selection headache, a dilemma he loves to have.

"Some of the young boys came in, and they're in good form with the under-18s. We did consider that with team selection. Hakeem [Abubakar] hasn't played with the under-21s yet, but we wanted to give him a go, he's playing really well for the under-18s.

"Ceadach [O'Neill] led the line really well and we got a hold of the ball, and we haven't always done that.

"We started well, like I say, gave away a couple of poor goals on our part, but they'll learn from it as young players, they have to learn. [So] there were a couple of things to change at half-time, we needed to play higher and deny the space and be a little bit more physical, because it was a man-to-man game.

"We have to stress our players, we can't play safe and go low-block because our first team don't do that, so we wanted to go man-for-man. Then they won more duels, more races, and I think we deserved our draw in the end."
