Buford (GA), ranked No. 3 in the USA TODAY Sports latest Super 25 rankings, has been one of the best defensive teams in the country this season, only allowing more than 10 points twice and posting shutouts in two of their last three games.
Buford’s latest shutout came on Friday, Oct. 16, as the Wolves crushed Collins Hill (GA) 43-0. However, that shutout almost didn't happen if it wasn't for a clutch play made by Vanderbilt linebacker commit Ethan Hauser. That defensive play made by Hauser late in the third quarter earned this week's USA TODAY Sports Play of the Week.
With Collins Hill backed up on its own 23, the Eagles converted a deep pass down into Buford territory. It looked like an almost certain touchdown, but Hauser came out of nowhere to strip the ball away from the Eagles receiver and preserve the shutout. Buford added another touchdown, cruising to a 43-0 home win.
See the play for yourself:
A 6-foot-3, 200-pound three-star prospect, 247Sports ranks Hauser as the No. 52 linebacker prospect in the 2027 cycle and the No. 73 player out of Georgia. He has been committed to Vanderbilt since May 27.
