Tiger Woods lands brand new job as golf legend signs up to incredible £30million mega-project in UK

TIGER WOODS is set to design a £30million mega-project golf course in County Londonderry.

It will become the first new links course to open in Northern Ireland for a century after plans for the venue at Bellarena were unveiled last year.

A Causeway Coast and Glens councillor has explained Woods‘ involvement was confirmed in a briefing, according to the Coleraine Chronicle.

Hotel chain Galgorm Collection is hoping that its planned course will help to ensure the area’s status as a world-class golfing hub, with parkland courses already established in Ballymena and Limavady.

A Galgorm Collection spokesperson said: “We are progressing plans for a proposed championship course at Bellarena, on Northern Ireland’s Causeway Coast.

“We look forward to confirming a design appointment in due course.”

A Proposal of Application Notice was filed by Galgorm in August, outlining plans for a new 18-hole links golf course including a clubhouse, practice areas, short course, driving range, putting greens, and eight golf lodges.

Plans have also been made to reconstruct buildings used by the U.S. Army during World War II, on agricultural land and woodland located west of Bellarena House and north of the River Roe.

The project has been provisionally named ‘Last Man’s Club’ in reference to a pact where the last surviving Bellarena veteran would drink a bottle of liquor in honour of his fellow serviceman.

Woods’ TGR Design has already designed several championship courses across North America and Asia, with Bellarena set to be the Florida firm’s first foray in Europe.

TGR Design previously unveiled an incredible new 18-hole mini golf course featuring sharks and stingrays in Orlando, Florida, back in August.

The five-time Masters winner also co-founded indoor golf league TGL, playing in its inaugural season last year.

Woods is yet to play an official tournament since his DUI arrest near his Florida home in March.

No word has been said on his return, with the third TGL season set to begin in January.
