Joao Felix is seeking an exit from Al Nassr to secure a return to European club football, with his representative, Jorge Mendes, scheduling decisive talks with the Saudi Pro League club’s board, according to reports. The Portuguese forward wants to clear his path before the summer transfer window opens.
The core issue of the upcoming summit involves the expiration date of Joao Felix’s current agreement with Al Nassr. While his contract runs until June 30, 2027, the deal contains a unilateral clause that allows the club to extend the arrangement through June 2028. Mendes aims to block that one-sided extension during the discussions so the player can leave as a free agent next summer.
The forward’s camp prefers an immediate resolution rather than waiting for the summer market to open. Securing a free departure would give Mendes sufficient time to evaluate potential destinations across Europe and choose a project suited to the player’s ambitions. Under standard contract regulations, if no renewal is agreed, Felix becomes free to negotiate with outside clubs beginning January 1, 2027.
Joao Felix’s primary objective is to return to FC Barcelona, where he spent the 2023/24 season on loan from Atlético de Madrid. Mendes has already informed the Barcelona sporting direction of the player’s willingness to rejoin the club as a free agent without a transfer fee.
The forward’s production in the Saudi Pro League supports his push for a high-level European return. Since arriving at Al Nassr in July 2025, Felix has recorded 30 goals and 22 assists across 55 appearances. He opened the current campaign with four goals and three assists in seven matches.
Despite the player’s interest in a Camp Nou return, the move faces sporting obstacles. Barcelona’s attacking line is well-stocked following the additions of Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi, meaning any future approach depends entirely on upcoming squad planning for the summer. Because of that uncertainty, Mendes is exploring other possibilities, with Juventus emerging as an alternative option if a deal with Barcelona fails to materialize.
Overall, three European clubs are monitoring the situation as they await the outcome of the meeting between Mendes and the Al Nassr leadership.
