FIFA U-17 WWC:Black Maidens Beat Canada 2-0 to Advance to Next Round

Ghana’s Black Maidens secured a deserved 2-0 victory over Canada in their final group-stage match at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, booking their place in the next round of the competition.

After a goalless first half, Ghana returned from the break with renewed determination and found the breakthrough through substitute Linda Achiaa, who made an immediate impact by scoring just seconds after coming onto the pitch.

Achiaa’s decisive contribution gave the Black Maidens the advantage and lifted the team as they sought to secure qualification for the knockout stage.

Ghana continued to press for a second goal, and their persistence paid off in stoppage time when Ashiaku struck in the 90+5th minute to double the lead and seal an important victory.

The late goal confirmed Ghana’s 2-0 triumph over their Canadian counterparts, capping a disciplined performance by the West Africans.

The Black Maidens can now celebrate their progression to the next round, with the victory providing a timely boost to their campaign at the global youth tournament.

Ghana’s ability to break the deadlock after the interval and maintain their composure until the final whistle proved decisive in a match that remained goalless at half-time.
