Tottenham Hotspur’s attention has been captured by a 6ft 5in striker, who has been one of the most prolific goalscorers in Europe so far this season.

It now appears to be an open secret that Spurs are scouring the market for a replacement for Richarlison, who has already played his final game for the North London club after being left out of their Premier League squad.

Over recent weeks, we have heard reports suggesting that Tottenham are fans of Benfica’s Vangelis Pavlidis, but a deal for the Greek international appears difficult to complete in January.

We have also seen sources claim that Espanyol’s Roberto Fernandez is close to the top of Spurs’ wishlist, and a new update now asserts that another name has been added to the club’s list of potential targets.

Tottenham battling Man Utd and Everton for Dinamo Zagreb striker Dion Beljo

According to TEAMtalk, Spurs are now keeping tabs on Dinamo Zagreb striker Dion Beljo, who has made an exceptional start to the new season.

The 24-year-old’s outstanding form for Dinamo and the Croatian national side has caught the eye of scouts, with the centre-forward having netted 12 goals in his last 14 games, including 10 in seven league appearances.

While Brentford have also been monitoring the striker, the report reveals that Spurs, Man Utd and Everton are the ones to have conducted checks on him recently.

All three clubs are continuing to assess Beljo’s progress, as they look to add more firepower to their forward line in January.

Why Spurs are unlikely to sign a big-name striker in January

All 10 of Tottenham’s signings in the summer came from other Premier League clubs, with the Lilywhites paying a premium for several of those players.

However, interestingly, based on the speculation over recent weeks, it appears that De Zerbi’s men are now looking outside England for a number nine.

This comes amid reports that Tottenham will be restrained in their spending in January and have no plans to splash the kind of cash they did in the summer.

Spurs are instead expected to focus on cost-effective targets and ensuring they get value for money, which explains why they are looking for potential hidden gems from lower-tier leagues.
