The 2026/27 EFL Cup is about to go down to the final eight with the first quarter-finals in a major English competition of the season.
This season’s last-16 ties included a meeting between record 10-time champions Liverpool and Chelsea, who they beat in the 2023/24 final.
Manchester City will match the Reds’ record if they lift the trophy this season and Enzo Maresca’s side also faced an all-Premier League tie to reach the quarter-finals, facing Brighton & Hove Albion.
Here are all the details on how to watch the draw for the 2026/27 EFL Cup quarter-finals, including date, time, TV channel and live streams.
The draw will take place on Wednesday, October 28 after the quarter-final between Andoni Iraola’s team and the Blues.
Presenter Dave Jones will host the draw alongside former England defenders Conor Coady and Graeme Le Saux.
The game at Anfield kicks off at 20:00 GMT (16:00 ET / 13:00 PT) and will go straight to penalties if the scoreline is level after 90 minutes.
That means the draw is likely to take place at approximately 22:00 GMT (18:00 ET / 15:00 PT), depending on added time and whether spot kicks are required.
All eight ties are on Sky Sports, with the game between Liverpool and Chelsea also available on ITV1.
Via Now TV, Sky Sports costs £14.99 for a day membership, £28 a month for a 12-month membership or £34.99 a month with no contract.
Streaming is available on a vast variety of devices via the Sky GO app and the ITVX app.
The ball numbers will be published on the EFL website on Wednesday morning.
Here are the remaining dates in this season’s competition.

| Semi-final first legs | Week of Jan 11 2027 |
| Semi-final second legs | Week of Feb 1 2027 |

Should they finish level after 90 minutes, EFL Cup ties go straight to penalties until the semi-finals, which take place over two legs.
If the scoreline is level after the second leg, extra time and – if necessary – penalties are used to separate teams.
The final is a one-off match at Wembley Stadium, with extra time and penalties used if required.

The EFL Cup winners receive a place in the play-off stage of the UEFA Conference League unless they qualify through another route for European competition.
Newcastle were an example of the rule in action in 2024/25, instead qualifying for the Champions League through their league position.
That meant their Conference League play-off place went to the next-highest ranked team who had not qualified for European competition via their league position.
