The Latest Gunther Werks Porsche Is A Road-Going Tribute To A Racing Legend

Gunther Werks has unveiled another outrageous Porsche 911 restomod, this time celebrating one of motorsport's most recognizable personalities. Called the Brundle Edition Turbo, the special model pays tribute to former Formula 1 driver and racing commentator Martin Brundle.

According to Top Gear, the project was developed with Brundle's daughter Charlie, an automotive designer who has previously worked with McLaren and Aston Martin. She helped create a distinctive appearance inspired by her father's racing career.

The car is based on Gunther Werks' Porsche 993-generation Turbo platform, combining classic 911 styling with modern engineering and an enormous amount of horsepower. Production will be limited to just five examples worldwide.

Each Brundle Edition carries a price tag of approximately $1.98 million. That makes it an exceptionally expensive tribute, although its performance figures suggest Gunther Werks hasn't spent the entire budget on special paint.

Behind the rear axle sits a Rothsport Racing-built 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged flat-six producing a staggering 860 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque. The engine revs to 7,500 rpm and sends power exclusively to the rear wheels.

A six-speed manual transmission handles gear changes, while bespoke active coilover suspension, upgraded anti-roll bars, and Brembo brakes help manage the performance. Despite the extensive hardware, the Brundle Edition weighs just 2,700 pounds.

A Design Inspired By Martin Brundle's Racing Career

Charlie Brundle created a hand-painted, two-tone pearl livery inspired by her father's racing helmet. The car also features exclusive forged magnesium wheels influenced by the Brabham Formula 1 car he once drove.

Inside, the tribute continues with personalized headrests, unique upholstery, signed dashboard trim, and a special key. One very entertaining detail is Brundle's familiar saying on the passenger-side dashboard: "The most important bit of the car is the nut holding the steering wheel."

Only Five Will Ever Be Built

Each of the five cars comes with a matching Bell HP77 carbon-fiber helmet, painted to complement the exterior. Buyers also receive an extensively customized cabin and exclusive Brundle Edition branding.

The Brundle Edition also features Martin's signature on the dashboard end plates and a specially designed key, giving each example a few extra details that distinguish it from Gunther Werks' regular Turbo builds. With just five cars planned, these will most likely be hidden away in private collections.
