After dipping back to 15 points and surviving a dance-off following a difficult quickstep in Week 3, Wright-Phillips achieved a breakthrough with an electric James Brown routine scoring 28 points in Week 4.

Ian Wright’s ex-girlfriend Sharon Phillips is Shaun’s mum, and the former Manchester City man was adopted by Wright at the age of three.

In 2019, the ex-Premier League legend spoke to the Mirror about adopting Shaun, saying: “I didn’t have a job, and no means, but I took him on because it was the right thing to do.”

Wright opened up about becoming a father and his previous relationships in his autobiography, A Life In Football.

The former Arsenal ace wrote: “When I was younger, I used to go around with Shaun and Bradley’s uncle, Norman, Sharon’s brother, and he had girlfriends and kids everywhere.

“I kind of absorbed that and it almost felt like that was what people did.

“This one’s sleeping with that one, he’s got kids with her, her and her, she’s got kids with him and him . . . you go to Jamaica it’s the same thing.

“I’m not saying it’s the best way to live and, really, I just fell into it rather than made it a choice.”

Wright also fathered Shaun’s brother Bradley Wright-Phillips with Sharon.

Both Bradley and Shaun went on to have fantastic careers in the game of football, just like their father.

After starting in the academy at Manchester City, D’Margio Wright-Phillips signed permanently with Stoke City in February 2021.

He made his senior professional breakthrough with The Potters in 2022, scoring his first professional goal against Fulham.

In January 2023, D’Margio joined League Two side Northampton Town on a brief loan spell to gain more regular minutes.

He moved to Beerschot on loan in February 2024, and helped them win promotion to the top flight, signing a permanent deal with the Belgian side in July of the same year.

D’Margio made his senior international debut for Grenada, choosing to represent the Caribbean nation over England.

The winger represented England in 2017, playing for both the U16 and U17 sides.
