The thrilling encounter, part of La Liga's Matchday 10, saw Los Blancos end Barcelona's perfect start to the season, which had seen Hansi Flick's side win all nine of their opening league fixtures. The result has significantly tightened the title race, cutting Barcelona's lead over Real Madrid to just three points.

Match Highlights

The game, overseen by Real Madrid's returning manager José Mourinho, was a tactical battle from the outset. Real Madrid broke the deadlock in the 41st minute, albeit with a touch of fortune, when Mbappe's shot deflected off Barcelona's Gerard Martin and found its way past Barcelona's goalkeeper. Barcelona, however, responded in the second half. Raphinha, receiving a precise pass from Pedri, curled his shot into the far corner past Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin to level the score just past the hour mark.

With the match seemingly heading for a draw, Mbappe stepped up in the 87th minute. A brilliant attacking move initiated by Jude Bellingham, who skillfully linked up with Eduardo Camavinga, saw the latter provide an inch-perfect assist for Mbappe. The 27-year-old striker converted from close range, sending the Real Madrid faithful into raptures and silencing the home crowd at Camp Nou.
