The Monday schedule opens at 9:30 a.m. local Argentine time with simultaneous matches in Austria and Switzerland. Etcheverry takes center court at the Vienna event, while Navone kicks off his tournament in Basel.
Tomás Etcheverry, ranked 29th, enters the Vienna main draw looking to halt a five-match losing streak. He faces Italy’s Matteo Berrettini, ranked 48th, in what marks the first career meeting between the two players. Berrettini, a former world number six and 2021 Wimbledon finalist, brings a potent service game to the indoor hard courts of the Austrian capital. The winner advances to the second round of the tournament, which features a total prize pool of 2,797,985 euros and is headlined by top-seeded German Alexander Zverev.
In Switzerland, 43rd-ranked Mariano Navone opens his Basel campaign against Monaco’s Valentin Vacherot, ranked 31st. The head-to-head record between the pair stands at 1-1 following two encounters earlier this year on the ATP Tour, where Navone claimed victory at the Canadian Masters 1000 before Vacherot returned the win at the Miami Masters 1000. Navone arrives in Basel following an appearance in Brussels, where he defeated Juan Manuel Cerúndolo in the opening round before falling to Tallon Griekspoor in the round of 16.
The Swiss event distributes 2,584,155 euros in prize money with American Ben Shelton serving as the tournament’s top seed. The singles competition awards 483,335 euros to the individual champion and 158,740 euros to the winning doubles pair.
Juan Manuel Cerúndolo secured his main-draw berth in Basel by defeating Germany’s Daniel Altmaier 7-6(9), 6-3 in the final round of the qualifying tournament. Source 3 noted that the victory marked Cerúndolo’s first career main-draw appearance at the Basel ATP 500 event, bolstered by a performance where the Argentine won 93 percent of his first-serve points during the second set. The triumph followed an earlier qualifying win over American Zachary Svajda.
Due to Altmaier subsequently entering the main draw as a lucky loser, Cerúndolo and Altmaier face each other for the second day in the third match on Court IWB 1, following the match between Switzerland’s Mika Brunold and Portugal’s Nuno Borges.
Argentine participation in the Swiss tournament continues on Tuesday when Francisco Cerúndolo, ranked 19th, faces Britain’s Cameron Norrie. Francisco Cerúndolo enters the match following a semifinal loss at the Brussels ATP 250 event against Griekspoor. Monday’s order of play opens at 9:30 a.m. Argentine time with Etcheverry against Berrettini in Vienna and Navone against Vacherot in Basel, followed by Juan Manuel Cerúndolo’s afternoon encounter against Altmaier.
