“I’m sure…” – Liverpool are “keeping tabs” on “fantastic” Premier League player – journalist

Brighton centre-back Luka Vuskovic’s star continues to rise, and amid rumours of a move to Liverpool, journalist Pete O’Rourke has backed up those claims.

The 19-year-old is a defender with enormous potential, standing out as one of the best defenders in the Premier League this season, and being hailed by Seagulls teammate Lewis Dunk:

“He’s settling in really well. He’s obviously come in and hit the ground running. But I’m sure he can get better and be a top, top, top defender in the future. He’s played in Germany and I don’t know how many international games [for Croatia], so he’s played at a high level already.

“It’s not like he’s been thrown in at the deep end. He’s handled the physicality of the Premier League very well so far. “We’re just going to need to keep building a partnership and I’ll enjoy playing alongside him. I’m going to keep helping him improve and see where this partnership can go.”

Liverpool have already been linked with a move for Vuskovic this week, and in an interview with Football Insider, O’Rourke said the Reds are sure to be tracking his situation:

“It will take a huge fee to even make Brighton entertain losing him, which they’re not. They want to keep hold of him. He’s just arrived and is having a great impact down on the south coast.

“There’s been talk of Real Madrid also being interested in Vuskovic, and I’m sure Liverpool, as well as a lot of the top guns, are keeping tabs on the Croatian international. He does look like a player with huge potential who probably will only get better and better.”

Liverpool should consider Luka Vuskovic a top target

It is important that Liverpool continue to eye up the top young talent in the game, as well as signing players who are at the peak of their powers, and Vuskovic certainly falls into the first category.

He has already shown what an influential presence he can be at the heart of the defence in a top Premier League team, and Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler has said this about him:

“Luka has enjoyed a fantastic start to his career – it’s one we’ve followed closely. Last season, he demonstrated he can play at a very high level and we want to help him build on that within our environment.

“There’s been a lot of external noise about Luka joining us, but he is still a young guy who will need time to adjust to the demands of playing for Brighton and the Premier League. We are confident that he will take this in his stride, though.”

There doesn’t appear to be anything concrete about Liverpool signing Vuskovic for now, but if they can beat other top clubs to his signature, it would be a major coup.
