Indonesian Moto3 rider Veda Ega Pratama secured a sixth-place finish at his home round during the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2026 at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in Lombok Tengah, Nusa Tenggara Barat, Antara reported. The Honda Team Asia rookie crossed the finish line 12.017 seconds behind race winner Maximo Quiles, who clocked a total time of 32 minutes 36.821 seconds on Sunday, Oct. 11, 2026.

Starting the race from the seventh position on the third row, Veda gained one spot over the course of the 20-lap encounter to claim 10 championship points in front of local spectators. His performance at Mandalika elevated his season total to 115 points, allowing him to surpass the previous rookie points record set by Ai Ogura, who collected 109 points during his debut season with Honda Team Asia in 2019, according to Disway Malang.

Mandalika Battle and Maximo Quiles Title Triumph

The race at Mandalika proved eventful from the opening laps. TMCBlog.com reported that Brian Uriarte started from pole position while Veda lined up seventh. Quiles, riding for the CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team, immediately seized the lead off the line and managed the gap at the front throughout the afternoon. Veda pushed into the leading group early on, climbing as high as second and third place by the third lap before settling into a fierce battle within the points-paying positions.

As reported by TMCBlog.com, Veda ran fifth on lap 10, dropped to eighth on lap 11, and fought back through the field during the closing stages to take the checkered flag in sixth place. David Almansa took second place, 2.994 seconds behind Quiles, while Brian Uriarte rounded out the podium in third, 5.156 seconds back. The victory cemented Quiles’ status as the 2026 Moto3 World Champion with five races remaining in the season.

Standings Shift and the Battle for Position

Veda’s 10-point haul in Lombok moved the 17-year-old rider from Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta, up to seventh place in the Moto3 world championship standings, Disway Malang noted. The result also impacted the wider regional standings landscape. CNN Indonesia reported that fellow newcomer Hakim Danish dropped to ninth in the standings with 107 points following the Indonesian Grand Prix, yielding ground to Veda’s upward trajectory.

SIC CEO Azhan Shafriman Hanif highly praised Hakim Danish’s impressive achievements throughout the season, highlighting his third-place podium finish at the Italian Grand Prix and his victory at the Czech Grand Prix. In his first year, Hakim Danish has shown extraordinary performance, Azhan stated, as reported by Sinar Harian. Previously, we know that getting on the podium is not an easy thing, but he has proven his ability and even won. I hope all fans and the community will come to SIC to support our local talent who will compete in the Moto3 category, Azhan added.

Upcoming Challenges at Phillip Island

With the Mandalika round concluded, Veda turns his focus toward the next stop on the 2026 calendar: the Moto3 Australia Grand Prix at the historic Phillip Island Circuit, scheduled for Oct. 23–25, 2026, Disway Malang reported. The Australian venue presents a fresh test for the Indonesian rookie, as the fast and flowing layout requires precise rhythm, calculated braking markers, and sustained corner-speed management across unfamiliar asphalt.

Following the trip to Australia, the Moto3 world championship continues its overseas leg with events in Malaysia, Qatar, Portugal, and Valencia. Practice sessions at Phillip Island begin on Friday, Oct. 23, 2026, giving the Honda Team Asia rider his first competitive laps on the circuit.
