A HOUSTON Texans star wide receiver is set to play his first game in nearly two years.
The NFL star is set for a remarkable comeback after suffering a devastating knee injury.
Tank Dell, 26, is in line to feature for the Texans against the New York Giants on Sunday.
It will mark the wideout’s first appearance since suffering a dislocated kneecap and torn ligaments in December 2024.
This injury left his teammates shaken with the Texans now keen to gradually introduce Dell back into action.
The Texans’ upcoming Week 8 bye has resulted in head coach DeMeco Ryans, 42, being confident enough for Dell’s return.
“I expect Tank just to be himself and just play the offense the right way,” Ryans said on Monday, via the NFL. “No huge expectations from what he needs to do. We’re all just going to be excited.
“I know me personally, I’m just going to be excited to see him just out there for the first time in over two years, just getting some game action. I’m just thankful, grateful for him to have this opportunity to return. I don’t have any expectations.”
Dell recorded ten touchdowns during his rookie season as he helped the Texans reach the playoffs.
This was followed by ten starts in 2024, before being sidelined through injury.

Major doubts hung over his future in the NFL after missing the entirety of last year’s campaign, but the Texans have been keen to retain the wide receiver.
He now returns to an overloaded wideout department featuring Nico Collins, Marvin Harrison Jr., Xavier Hutchinson, and Jaylin Noel.
The Texans also signed Kayshon Boutte from the New England Patriots ahead of the 2026 season.
But Ryans has explained that Dell’s point of difference could be key for the Texans as they look to turn their 2-4 season around.
“As we all know, Tank is an explosive player,” Ryans added. “He’s still as quick as ever. Ask our defenders who were covering him the past couple of weeks.
“He’s been putting us in some tough matchups in practice the past two weeks. I expect him to go out on Sunday and do the same thing.”
