The Yankees’ first baseman and his college sweetheart love to hype each other up.

The Gist

  • Ben Rice’s girlfriend is Sara Falkson, a Harvard engineering grad and former Dartmouth field hockey player.

  • Falkson is the founder of Robyn Athletic, a sportswear and body confidence brand with a forthcoming line of sports bras.

  • The couple have reportedly been dating since 2019 and often praise each other in interviews and on social media.

Ben Rice is a rising star with the New York Yankees, and he’s quick to credit girlfriend Sara Falkson for keeping him at the top of his game.

“Her work ethic, her determination, all those things are so evident every day when I watch everything she does,” he told Us Weekly in August. He added, “She’s just a very special person in my life. I learn from her a lot every day.”

The two Ivy League grads first met in high school and started dating in 2019 while attending Dartmouth University, where Rice played college baseball, and Falkson played field hockey. Besides their mutual love of athletics, the college sweethearts bonded over their intellectual hobbies off the field. “We’re both nerds,” Falkson said in a June profile of Rice for Yankees Magazine. “We’ve been picking up chess. I don’t want to say he’s winning, but he’s brilliant. And he beats me more often than I’d like to admit, unfortunately.”

When they’re not battling one another at chess, Rice and Falkson are each other’s biggest cheerleaders: She celebrates his wins on the diamond, and he champions her milestones with her sportswear company, Robyn Athletic.

Ahead, learn more about Ben Rice’s girlfriend, Sara Falkson.

The Boston native is an alumna of Dartmouth and Harvard.

Falkson hails from Boston, Massachusetts, according to a 2025 profile of her in The Boston Globe. Attending Dartmouth took her to New Hampshire, where she studied human-centered design and played for the Big Green’s field hockey team.

After college, Falkson worked as a design engineer for IBM in San Francisco. She later enrolled in Harvard’s Master in Design Engineering program, graduating in 2025, according to her Instagram.

She’s the founder of Robyn Athletic, a sportswear and body-confidence brand.

In 2025, Falkson turned her Harvard capstone project into a start-up called Robyn Athletic. The company offers “education, community, and gear”—specifically, high-performance sports bras set to launch in the spring of 2027—tailor-made for female athletes.

The founder was inspired to engineer a better bra after struggling to find quality performance apparel as a young athlete. “I would be in the locker room wearing two sports bras at once, changing in front of friends, and they’d ask if everything was okay,” she recalled in a Harvard profile.

She added that the lack of proper apparel can cause participants to question their place in sports. “When girls have to invent workarounds just to feel supported, you start wondering if maybe your body isn’t built for the sport, or if you’re the problem.”

Robyn Athletic’s journey has been well-documented on social media, where Falkson shares updates on the forthcoming product line and snippets from empowerment workshops the company hosts with local schools.

Armed with engineering savvy and a 3D printer, Falkson often gets crafty when making gifts for her MLB-player boyfriend. Back in April, she shared the process behind his Christmas present—a circular wooden table commemorating his Yankees debut. Falkson crafted it at the Harvard machine shop. “[K]inda sorta a Ben Rice fan 🫣 Go Yankees! 💙⚾️,” she captioned the Instagram Reel.

More recently, Falkson has surprised Rice with 3D-printed, Yankees-themed baubles to hype him up for the team’s post-season games.

She’s also quick to praise him in interviews. In Rice’s Yankees Magazine feature, she gushed about her boyfriend’s “empathy” being his secret weapon. “I think he always tries to hear everyone’s story and support them in any way possible. He knows that everyone’s experiences and everyone’s story contribute and bring value to the team, no matter what.”

They’ve modeled together.

That’s right—the baseball pro and engineer are also a camera-ready couple. Soon after making their MLB All-Star Red Carpet Show debut, they were the faces of a campaign for the lululemon MLB x Fanatics collection. “So much fun shooting this dream campaign with @fanatics and Ben!! ⚾️🤍,” Falkson wrote in the caption of her Instagram post teasing the new line of apparel.
