Jim Duffy believes Kasper Hogh needs to improve his performances for Celtic after the £11m striker was benched for Sunday’s 7-1 demolition of Hearts.
The Danish forward watched Callum Osmand score twice and Camilo Durán also get on the scoresheet as Martin O’Neill’s side ran riot against Hearts.
Hogh came off the bench to set up Benjamin Nygren’s second goal, but Duffy has questioned whether the striker is offering enough to justify a starting place.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Duffy insisted Hogh must improve but also reckons Celtic need to change how they use him.
Duffy said: “He has to perform better and he has to be more of a threat. He’s a different type of player from a traditional Celtic centre forward and playing a different way. Celtic don’t normally, as I said, get it wide and stick in a back post cross very often.
“So they have to adapt to him and he has to adapt to Celtic. And sometimes that takes time even if you do have a hefty price tag.”
Hogh has struggled to find the net since his hat-trick against Kilmarnock in August, with Sunday’s performance against Hearts giving O’Neill more options in attack.
O’Neill recently backed Hogh to score 20 goals this season, despite the striker failing to score in his recent appearances.
The Celtic manager has stood by Hogh during his goal drought, but Durán and Osmand have now given him good reasons to leave the Dane out.
Durán scored against Hearts, while Osmand grabbed his first two Celtic goals in an impressive first-half display. Haissem Hassan also played his part in the emphatic victory.
Osmand was subbed at half-time with a hamstring problem, though, and his fitness could affect O’Neill’s plans for Thursday’s Europa League clash with Celta Vigo.
Duffy, however, doesn’t expect Hogh to start against the Spanish side. He believes the striker will return against Hibernian on Sunday instead.
Duffy predicted: “But I don’t think he’ll start on Thursday, but I do think he’ll start next Sunday.
“I think it will be the front three that started there. I think it will be Hassan, Durán and Osmand. I think they will start on Thursday.”
