NBA legend LeBron James was caught in a heated exchange with a New York Knicks fan during his Philadelphia 76ers debut.
James, 41, is now in his 24th season in the NBA after leaving the LA Lakers in a shock move during free agency.
He got his time with the 76ers off to the perfect start as he helped ruin the Knicks’ ring night in some fashion.
Excitement and anticipation was high in New York after winning their first championship in 53 years.
But it was the 76ers who left Madison Square Garden with the 106-100 victory, with James scoring 14 points and had nine rebounds.
Outside of his performance, James also had the last laugh when engaging in a heated exchange with a Knicks fan at the end of the second quarter.
Live pictures of it were caught on the live ESPN broadcast, while fans’ videos of the incident managed to picked up what James was saying.
“Ain’t nothing soft in the Midwest. I don’t know what the f**k you talking about,” the Akron, Ohio native NBA legend appeared to say.
“I’m not from the West Coast. I’m from Ohio, baby. I’m not a Midwest kid, I’m an Ohio baby. F**k is you talking about.”
The exchange between James and the fan came as the Knicks were leading 56-50 with Jalen Brunson throwing free throws.
NBC play-by-play caller Mike Tirico claimed that the fans were taunting James about how he helicopters to 76ers training from New York City.
He has an apartment in the city and commutes to practices and games from there to Philadelphia when required.
“Guess who’s playing peacemaker? Spike Lee,” Reggie Miller said on the broadcast alongside Tirico.
Famed Knicks fan Lee and Miller famously had a long-running feud during the 1990s while Miller played for the Indiana Pacers.
“He’s over here playing peacemaker. Boy, I’ve seen everything,” Miller added.
Despite the animosity in the game, James showed the love for general Knicks fans afterwards on their big night.
“It was a great night for New York fans,” James said afterwards.
“Obviously, it’s something… 50+ years. I was a part of that at one point where we hadn’t won a major championship in Cleveland in over 50 years.
“The fans will never forget this moment, will never forget that championship run.
“We were happy that we were just able to come and play on such a historical night, a historical building, and play the game we love.”
