Brentford-Liverpool could see up to 14 players sidelined.

Andoni Iraola faces the prospect of being without seven squad members as Liverpool's injury crisis continues. Iraola's players will be looking to bounce back after a crushing loss to Manchester City in their previous Premier League outing. The former Bournemouth manager had limited options, with his strongest XI decimated by fitness concerns.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo were all absent for the City encounter, though their involvement hasn't been completely dismissed. Speaking on Thursday, Iraola acknowledged it was premature to determine whether the trio would be available for the Bees fixture.

The Spaniard's gut feeling was that the match would arrive too early, though he would "leave the chance open" with a Friday training session still possible.

Any comeback would provide a lift, particularly with Ryan Gravenberch suspended after collecting two bookings at Anfield on Sunday.

Beyond that, Liverpool continues to grapple with several lengthy injury absences. Giovanni Leoni had been expected to rejoin training during the previous international break, but the club has needed to exercise caution regarding his reintegration.

"It's taking more time than we wanted," Iraola said. "The plan was to train with the team in this past international break [but] probably it's going to be in the next [one], so we've lost one month in the process.

"He has to be very confident; the rehab process has to be very careful with him, and we want to make sure once he comes to the team, he stays in a good place."

There was encouraging news regarding Conor Bradley and Hugo Ekitike, who are reportedly making good progress. The former is edging closer to a training comeback.

"They are both doing very well," Iraola explained. "I think they are in a good place. Conor is not so far from training with the group - not full training but doing some things.

"It's difficult [to give a timescale] when they've been injured for so long, but I think Conor is not very far from starting doing things with us."

Keith Andrews faces seven fitness concerns ahead of the London fixture. Mikkel Damsgaard, Kevin Schade, Jannik Schuster and Nathan Collins are all racing to demonstrate their availability for Saturday.

Schuster and Schade have completed grass-based training this week, though Andrews offered a guarded update on their potential participation. That group is set for late fitness tests.

Antoni Milambo continues his recovery after a minor setback following his return from injury, while Kaye Furo remains sidelined until late next month, and Joshua Silva's thigh problem is expected to rule him out until the end of the month.
