Liverpool is gearing up for another important weekend of Premier League action, as Andoni Iraola looks to get his team back on track after defeat to Manchester City last time out.
The Reds sit ninth heading into the match, in what is quite a congested part of the table in the early weeks of the season, knowing that the next opponent, Brentford, will provide a huge challenge.
The match should provide some more insight into what is working and what needs changing for Iraola and his squad, something that Liverpool could address internally, or look into the market to solve.
With the January transfer window now just over two months away, here's a look at the latest Liverpool transfer news and rumors.
Liverpool is looking on the market for a potential replacement for Jeremie Frimpong, according to TMW, which claims that Juventus ace Pierre Kalulu could be one such option.
It's reported that the Reds are keen on the 26-year-old, who primarily plays as a centre-back, but can also feature as a right-back when required.
Kalulu is one of several names to be shortlisted, which includes Roma star Wesley, while the Frenchman has a contract running until 2029. Juventus is keen to extend that deal to prevent an exit, though interest from Liverpool may impact those possible negotiations.
Liverpool.com says: A move for Kalulu could ultimately work out similarly to Ronald Araujo. Both are primarily centre-backs who are comfortable playing at right-back if required, adding a bit more defensive balance to the backline.
This is something that could help the other flank, with Milos Kerkez potentially being given more license to push forward and impose himself in an attacking sense, which plays to his strengths.
Having that natural defensive option at right-back would be useful, and at 26 there is clearly a player who can still improve with the peak of his career ahead of him. The only doubt may be just how much Juventus would set as an asking price if the club wants to keep hold of the defender.
Another area for potential concern has been the midfield, with some worries over the general balance of profiles available at Liverpool. With that in mind, links have emerged over Marc Bernal, the Barcelona youngster who has made an impression with the senior team.
With a contract until 2029, there were reports claiming a $67 million move could be on the cards next summer, but Sport now reports that the Reds have given up on their pursuit of the 19-year-old.
Bernal is set for more playing time and responsibility with Barcelona, which makes any deal tough to do, while a contract extension until 2031 also appears to be on the cards.
It has all factored into Liverpool having to seemingly move on and look at other options in the months ahead.
