Kyren Williams sounds off after Rams’ season takes another ugly turn

The Rams are underachieving, and players and coaches aren’t happy.

Especially Kyren Williams.

After the Rams fell to 2-4 following an 18-16 loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Rams running back Kyren Williams didn’t hold back from calling out his playing time.

According to Arash Markazi of The Sporting Tribune, Williams was asked why “the team couldn’t sustain the energy drive to drive.” to which he responded, “Can’t tell you, bro. Probably because I’m not out there.”

Williams was then asked if he would like to see an increase of snaps compared to previous years and he said, “I can’t really call on that. It’s not on me but I just think no matter what, we gotta continue to have the energy.

“When plays are made, be excited, be happy so that we can not only uplift the offense, but the defense, the special teams. Being able to have that camaraderie to play off each other and I think that’s gonna allow us to be where want to be.”

Williams finished the day as the Rams’ leading rusher but carried the ball 10 times for 50 yards, and hauling in three receptions on six targets for 17 yards, while backup running back Blake Corum had nine carries for 42 yards with two receptions for 18 yards.

Despite Williams’ belief that he isn’t out on the field enough, he finished the day having played in 40 of the Rams’ offensive snaps, while Corum appeared in 16.

This season, Williams has appeared in 68.02% of snaps, giving him the sixth most on the team’s offense.

Coming into the season, the Rams were viewed as favorites to win the Super Bowl. But after Sunday’s loss, they are now ranked last in the NFC West, with Arizona holding the tiebreaker.

From the moment after the Rams were held to a 44-yard field goal on their second offensive possession is when everything soured on them.

Newly acquired kicker Blake Grupe was removed from the game due to a knee injury he suffered on the kickoff after his field goal.

Grupe attempted to tackle Cardinals kick returner Devin Duvemay on the kickoff but instead met his shoulder and was removed from the game.

The injuries continued to pile up for Los Angeles as Davante Adams left the game early due to a non-contact knee injury on the team’s final scoring drive.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford connected with Colby Parkinson with 52 seconds left to take a one-point lead.

On the next drive, Arizona quickly moved past midfield, setting up a game-winning field goal to give the game it’s final score.
